RACE ROUTE
GPS route will be sent in the week prior to the race.

The 2022 route will run from Nottingham Road to Himeville
Unlike most race routes now days, this route is aimed at making a very long ride non technical. The difficulty of this race lies in the distance, not the terrain.
A large portion of the race takes place on district road, and when you are trying to crush 100 kilometres, that’s a good thing. It allows you to have a higher average speed and that means a faster finishing time. There will be no single track on the route.
Make no mistake though, there are some tough climbs getting out of some of the big river valleys, the Umko Valley not being the least of them, but the reward of riding through the beautiful foothills of the Southern Drakensberg more than makes up for this, with some of the best race scenery around.

Start: The race will start at 7am. All MTB riders will leave in one batch (TBC depending on covid rulings at the time) Gravel bikes will leave 5 minutes after the MTB riders have gone off.

Water Tables
Four water tables along the way will keep you fuelled and charging all the way to the finish. PLEASE ensure you sanitise your hands before making use of the water tables.
Water Table 1 - 35kms
Water Table 2 - 56kms @ Snowtop
Water Table 3 - 75kms @ Highland Nook
Water Table 4 - 90kms
Cut Off
Cut off at 11:30 at Water table 2 (56kms)

Elevation gain = 2000m

We do ask for all seconders to NOT use the route so it should not be too dusty and busy.

Take on KZN's biggest one day 100km MTB marathon in the iconic Drakensberg.
What makes this race unique to any other in SA is that due to the nature of the route we are able to change directions every year, allowing the rider a completely "new" ride every year! 2022 will take riders from the picturesque village of Nottingham Road through to the iconic Himeville.

The climbs are long, but so are the descents, and the riding is designed to make the route fast, not technically difficult. But don't be fooled this is not an easy day out for everyone.

Established in 2012 we are what is now termed a "gravel grinding" race. MTB, Gravel and E-Bikes are all allowed to participate.
